Printing your Barcodes to Lables

Our barcode images are supplied in EPS, JPEG, and TIFF formats, ideal for use in design software such as Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or Photoshop (.psd). However, you can also use these files or input barcode numbers directly into label-making programs. Below are some common methods for printing your barcodes to labels.

DIY Method

Barcodes can be printed from a standard PC or Mac using a compatible printer. Office supply stores often stock label sheets, such as Avery templates. Ensure the template has enough space to accommodate both the barcode image and the required quiet zones (the blank white space on either side of the barcode).

To achieve the best results:

  • Use the highest resolution printer settings.
  • Test-scan a sample label before printing in bulk.
  • Ensure barcode images are scaled correctly. GS1 guidelines recommend a minimum of 80% magnification, equivalent to 80% of the original size of our supplied barcode images.

Label Printers with Bundled Software

Label printers like Dymo often come with software for creating customised labels. Simply input your barcode numbers into pre-designed templates and print. These printers are designed for barcode printing and use thermal transfer technology, resulting in durable labels.

Popular label printer models include:

  • Brother TD-4000
  • DYMO LabelWriter 4XL Machine (LW4XL)
  • Zebra GC420D

Prices range from $100 to $600, and these printers are available at office supply stores or online.

Professional Printing Services

For larger-scale printing or if you lack the necessary equipment, professional printing services can handle barcode label production.

Barcode Verification

Once your labels are printed, consider obtaining a Barcode Verification report to test the quality of your printed barcode. This ensures your barcode meets industry standards and identifies any issues requiring correction. Some major retailers may require verification before accepting your product.
